Peer Review Process

EMCSR offers two types of reviewing: double-blind and editorial track director (symposium chair) reviews. Double-blind reviewing will be applied on the submitted scientific papers and case studies for the proceedings published after the meeting, whereas all extended abstracts will be allocated to editorial track director reviews.

Contributions to the meeting may assume two different forms:

  • either they are selected by the symposium chairs (track directors) on the basis of a call for papers
  • or they are invited by symposium chairs.

Proceedings are published after the meeting. The papers included may come in two varieties:

  • either they are contributions based upon accepted abstracts that are, as a second step, extended to full paper length in the light of the discussion at the meeting
  • or they are submitted after the meeting as a result of the discussion at the meeting

The typical papers publication process is:

  • An author submits a paper to our journal;
    The managing editor / guest editor assigns two reviewers;
  • Reviewers submit their reports and recommendations;
  • The editors take a decision based on the submitted manuscript and the submitted recommendations;
  • The managing editor informs the author about the decision and forwards the reviews;
  • If the author is asked to make changes, the paper can be resubmitted. If the paper is not suitable for the EMCSR or contains fatal errors, the paper will be rejected and cannot be resubmitted;
  • Either the paper is accepted, or the author is asked to make minor revisions before acceptance, or the author is asked to make major revisions and resubmit the article for a second review, or the paper is rejected due to fatal errors that cannot be corrected or the topic is unsuitable for the EMCSR;
  • If the paper is accepted, the author is asked to layout the paper according to our guidelines (references, citations, format, etc.) if the author has not done so in the first place;
  • The paper is published as soon as we receive the author’s final version. Publication is instantaneous and there is no holding time as in traditional journal publishing.
